Once the famous French writer Alfred Jarry stated that “The theater, bringing impersonal masks to life, is only for those who are virile enough to create new life: either as a conflict of passions subtler than those we already know, or as a complete new character.”
That is infact theatre for all of you! You tend to take the form of a completely new character when you perform in a theatre. You are not yourself, rather you portray some one else, probably a new life altogether! Theatre is a vast branch of performing arts. The fact that it still holds a strong existence in the today's busy world is all because of the fact that people still love this genre from the core of their heart. And that is why it is surviving as a result of human tendency for story telling. Theatre is a platform of expressing our emotions and viewpoints in front of the whole world.
Elements like speech, gesture, music (solo and chorus), dance (solo and group), and spectacle are the soul of any theatre performance without which a show is incomplete. Specialization has become an essential aspect of this art form. Now we have a particular person for every field. You have directors who direct, designers who create sets, costume designers who design costumes, and no matter what. Theatre has evolved with time in a major way.
