Machining, is a process that deals with the removal of materials and makes use of various power driven tools in the whole process. It involves not one but a lot of material-working processes and the essential tools mainly used are: lathes, milling machines, and drill presses that are mainly used with other sharp tools. The process forms an integral part of the manufacture of almost all metal products and the person who performs these tasks is known as machinist. Steps involved in Machining are:
- Roughing: A device known as ripper cuter is used in this process. A majority of dust particles and rough material is eliminated in this process.
- Semi Roughing: In this process also, the use of a cutter is used, but this time, the cutter is little small.
- Semi Finishing: The shape and size of a cutter is now enhanced and a large cutter is used in this stage.
- Finishing: as the name suggests, it is the finishing stage. And the process is immensely long one. The end result, if of course the furnished shape.
