Dictionaries are the important tools for everyone. These can be called as the reference books which contain listed words alphabetically, with their multiple meanings, etymologies, pronunciations, synonyms, and derivation. Dictionaries are a bank of information. There are many types of dictionary and among them language dictionaries are the most popular and common type of dictionary, which comprise most of the frequently used words and phrases. Language dictionaries are categorised on the basis of the number of languages involved. Again language dictionaries can be monolingual, bilingual, multilingual etc.
Glossaries refer to lists of terms with their definitions in particular disciplines. Generally, these are found at the end of a book or in software manuals, which help readers in understanding various terms that they find unfamiliar. Glossaries also act as tools for students and other readers, since they consist of a wide range of terms, concepts and definitions. There are also bilingual glossaries where terms re given in one language and are defined in a second language or another language.
